The 3h workshop is here to introduce you to web development: the easy way. Actually, the very easy way. We stripped off every technicality and it’s all about getting to the point: Make that website! You can walk away having designed your own website, knowledge of how to keep editing and refining it from home and a very powerful theme that just makes that all extremely visual and user friendly!

We are serious about how a little kick-start and some confidence can go a long way.

Who is that workshop for?

Small business owners, freelancers, artists, entrepreneurs who would like to have their own website.

Bloggers and others who want to create their own web content.

Anyone who started building an website but … hasn’t happened yet and they could do with some guidance.

Anyone who did build a website but it is too plain/ too basic/ looks old/ would like something fresh and more functional.

 

Why is Our Tech doing these workshops?

We want to empower small business owners. We know that small businesses are someone’s dream and they deserve at least a good kickstart with a reputable online presence. We believe in freelancers, artists and anyone that have something to offer to this world.

After long research we discovered Divi theme, a very powerful and user friendly theme that makes web building very simple. So we got the licencing and we are excited to share it with you. By creating in a small group, we can keep the cost low while at the same time give everyone the attention they need. We want you to leave motivated and confident to keep editing, updating and refining your website in the future. Of course, if you have any trouble, we will be there for you.

What do I need to have a website live?

To have a functional website you need:

-A domain name (www.businessname.com.au)

-A designed website

-Hosting for your website to be live

What is included in this workshop?

In this workshop we will guide you step by step to design your own basic website. We will prepare a training domain and install WordPress for you. Included in the price will be the Divi theme including installation (retailing currently at $89/year), a very powerful and user-friendly theme that makes website development extremely easy. If you already have a domain name and hosting, we will use them to make your website live, at no extra cost. After the workshop, you can still edit your website anytime from home, add plugins and functions, change content etc. The website is yours.

What if I don’t have a domain name or hosting yet?

For this workshop, they are not essential. However they are essential if you want to have your website live. You can design your website and we will keep it for 30 days to give you time to get a domain name and hosting provider. You can buy domain names from websites like https://www.name.com/ or https://au.godaddy.com/ and they are quite inexpensive (starting around $8). You also have few options with hosting. We, Our Tech, can also provide hosting for your website for the cost of $100/year. If you decide on that, simply pick the package that includes hosting and we will set it all up for you.

What should I bring?

Your laptop

–  The content for your website. That is the text of each page like ‘Home’ page or  ‘About’ page, ‘Services’ page or possible blog posts. Don’t worry, you can always change them later.

-Pictures for your website.

– Notebook for taking notes.

-Domain name and hosting information (if available)

Refunds and Cancellations

Tickets for our Workshops are non-refundable, however you can re-book for a different date or you may transfer your ticket to someone else. In this case, you may email us at admin@ourtech.com.au.

There may be circumstances in which we need to cancel the Workshop. In such circumstances, we will provide you with a full refund of the amount of the Registration Fee that you have paid to us. Most of our classes must have a minimum of 2 participants before we can put them on. In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via text message or email.
